Sarpy Chamber Partners with Offutt for Operation Holiday Cheer
The Sarpy Chamber was proud to be an official partner in Operation Holiday Cheer for the first time. The objective of this seasonal operation is to fill around 500 gift bags that will be delivered to new service members in the dorms on the base. Each year Offutt Air Force Base works with local organizations and businesses to organize a day where gift bags are filled with donated gift items.
Efforts for Operation Holiday Cheer had been primarily based in Bellevue in previous years, and the Sarpy Chamber worked to increase participation across the whole county. The chamber coordinated with businesses and nonprofits to either donate gift items or pledged money to purchase items for the gift bags. On December 14th, over 20 volunteers gathered to assemble the bags. "Operation Holiday Cheer is a long-standing program and we are so grateful for the opportunity to contribute," said Sarpy Chamber President Karen Gibler. "So many people answered the call to show gratitude and support for our service members on the base. They're away from home during the holiday season and we just want to let them know their community really cares about them."
The Sarpy Chamber would like to thank all the volunteers who managed to fill 500 gift bags full of goodies in a matter of a few hours. Of course, filling the gift bags was only possible through the donations and monetary support from the businesses and organizations below:
