    As a Traveling Outside Plant Technician, the primary functions are to install and maintain ALLO’s underground fiber optic facilities safely and efficiently. ALLO Outside Plant (OSP) Technicians apply a great work ethic and strong attention to detail to provide an exceptional customer experience.     * This is a full-time traveling position and successful candidates will work a 21/9 rotation away from their home. If you are located near an ALLO market, you may be assigned a local rotation, if you are assigned a local rotation with no travel involved, you will not receive the 9 days off and be expected to work based on business needs.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Travel to multiple markets as needed to build out ALLO’s fiber network

    • Install, maintain, and test underground outside plant fiber.

    • Operate Cable trailers and other equipment in accordance with all local and national safety guidelines.

    • Inspect vehicles daily to ensure they meet all DOT standards and fill in logbooks and daily inspection sheets

    • Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, bend, assemble and erect all components necessary for lifting, moving, and installing plant materials in accordance with the applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

    • Read and understand provided maps to identify underground fiber optics.

    • Verify the accuracy and notate any discrepancies relating to re-entry of all existing splice enclosures.

    • Inspect field related work performed by contractors for quality.

    • Accurately prepare all field reports relating to work accomplished daily.

    • Provide a safe working environment by being knowledgeable, enforce all state, local, and company safety procedures.

    • Operate and maintain company-owned vehicles. Inspect vehicle daily and maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial license if applicable.

    • Maintain on-call responsibilities relating to emergency restoration as assigned.

    • Complete all necessary paperwork with zero errors.

    • When required, work with GIS personnel to ensure that up-to-date fiber maps are accurate for system and contract personnel.

    • Perform all other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Colorado Residents: typical pay range for this role will be from $18.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience.

     

     

     

    SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of ALLO installation-construction procedures.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees.

    • Ability to work under pressure to successfully complete assigned tasks.

    • Ability to work with and understand fiber splicing designs.

    • Ability to operate company vehicles and maintain a driver’s license, and commercial license if applicable, in good standing.

    • Knowledge of underground utility construction and your assigned geographic region.

    • Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and GIS.

    • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers, contractors, and company employees.

    • Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day in all weather conditions.

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend/stoop/kneel/crawl

    • Flexibility and temperament to adapt to sudden challenges and changing work conditions

    • Willingness to change schedule at short notice to respond to emergency calls.

    • Availability for weekend on-call duty, as required

    • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Must have reliable form of transportation.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • See well enough to read manuals, operate test equipment and power tools.  See well enough to distinguish colors used to identify individual fibers and to evaluate the quality of completed fiber construction.

    • Hear well enough to converse on a telephone or two-way radio or communicate with customers or other employees.

    • Speak well enough to converse on the telephone or a two-way radio.

    • Body movement or mobility to climb and maintain balance on a ladder, utility pole or other high locations. Mobility or flexibility to crouch and crawl in tight spaces.

    • Dexterity to use hand tools and small power tools, and to complete necessary forms in a legible manner.
