Gretna Public Schools Foundation Announces CommUNITY Tailgate & Food Drive at the ''Battle of 370''
October 17, 2025GRETNA, NE — October 17, 2025 — The Gretna Public Schools Foundation invites the community to come together for an evening of fun, food, and giving at the CommUNITY OpportUNITY Tailgate & Food Drive on Friday, October 24 at 6:00 PM, held in conjunction with the much-anticipated football showdown between Gretna High and Gretna East — known as the "Battle of 370."
This exciting community event will feature:
· ?? Hy-Vee Tailgate available for purchase
· ?? Gretna Backpack Program Food Drive
· ??? Gretna Booster & PTO Marketplace
· ?? Touch-a-Truck experience with vehicles from the Nebraska State Troopers (including a helicopter!) and Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office
· Kona Ice &Tom’s Coffee Truck available for purchase
Attendees are encouraged to show their UNITY by supporting the Gretna Backpack Program, which helps provide essential food items to students in need. Donations of new, unopened, non-perishable food items are requested. Suggested items include:
· Spaghetti noodles (16 oz)
· Pasta sauce (24 oz jar)
· Peanut butter & jelly (16 oz & 30 oz, plastic jars)
· Instant rice (14 oz box)
· Canned chicken
· Chicken noodle soup cans
· BBQ sauce
· Canned vegetables & fruit (14.5 oz)
· Boxed cereal (12 oz)
· Granola/cereal bars (8 ct.)
· Goldfish crackers (6.6 oz bags)
“This event is a celebration of school spirit and community strength,” said Executive Director, Holly Radke from the Gretna Public Schools Foundation. “Whether you're cheering for Gretna High or Gretna East, everyone wins when we come together to support our students and neighbors in need.”
