  • 2026 EVENT RECAP

The Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce successfully hosted its first National Civics Bee Regional Competition on April 22, 2026, at Papillion Landing!

Twenty middle school finalists from across the region competed in a live, multi-round event testing their knowledge of civics, government and community engagement. After two rounds of quiz questions and a final live Q&A, the top three students advanced to the State Competition.

    2026 Top Finalists:

    • Savannah W., Beadle Middle
    • Xi L., Elkhorn Ridge Middle
    • Olivia V., King Science & Technology Middle

We are proud of all 20 finalists who demonstrated a strong understanding of civics and a passion for making a difference in their communities.

  • ABOUT THE BEE

The Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce partners with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host this nonpartisan civics competition, encouraging middle school students (grades 6-8) to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.

Participants explore real-world issues, develop ideas for community improvement and build a deeper understanding of how government works.

    WHY CIVICS MATTERS

We believe informed and engaged citizens are essential to a strong community, economy and workforce. The National Civics Bee helps students develop the knowledge and confidence to become active participants in shaping their future.

    LOOKING AHEAD TO 2027

Planning is already underway for the next National Civics Bee cycle.

Details on the 2027 competition, including application timelines and event information, will be announced later this year.
