National Civics Bee^® Essay Deadline Extended to February 17, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sarpy County — February 3, 2026 — The National Civics Bee has announced an extension to its essay submission deadline in response to the widespread impact of recent winter storms across the country. Students now have until Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time, to submit their essays.

The deadline extension comes as many communities continue to recover from severe winter weather that caused school closures, postal service delays, and power and internet outages, limiting students' ability to complete and submit their work on time.

The National Civics Bee, an initiative aimed at encouraging young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities, invites middle school students (grades 6-8) to showcase their ideas for improving their local area through thoughtful, solution-oriented essays.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the additional time and submit their essays before the new deadline. Full contest details, eligibility requirements, and submission instructions can be found at https://uscc.foundation/NCB2026.
