FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LB 1165 Aims to Strengthen Nebraska Jobs and Economic Growth
Nebraska business leaders are encouraging continued support for LB 1165, the Grow the Good Life Act, a key piece of legislation aimed at protecting jobs, strengthening communities, and positioning Nebraska for long-term economic growth. Introduced and prioritized by Senator von Gillern on behalf of Governor Jim Pillen, the bill represents a significant opportunity to strengthen Nebraska’s economic competitiveness.
At a time when states across the country are making bold investments to attract businesses and talent, LB 1165 provides Nebraska with tools to compete for major employers, high-wage jobs, and capital investment. The legislation focuses on retaining large Nebraska employers, expanding workforce participation, and strengthening economic development efforts across the state.
At its core, LB 1165 creates a targeted, performance-based tool to retain major Nebraska-headquartered employers during large mergers or acquisitions, when decisions about jobs and headquarters are often made outside the state. The bill is intended to help attract and retain more than 1,000 high-paying jobs while protecting Nebraska’s long-term tax base and economic stability.
The legislation also strengthens Nebraska’s competitiveness for manufacturing and large-scale investment projects by enhancing incentives under the ImagiNE Act. Additionally, LB 1165 expands flexibility for employers to use earned incentives to support employee childcare needs, helping address workforce participation challenges that impact businesses across Nebraska.
For Sarpy County, the impact of LB 1165 could be significant. As one of Nebraska’s fastest-growing regions and a hub for business expansion, Sarpy County relies on strong economic development tools to attract investment, retain employers, and support workforce growth. Strengthening Nebraska’s ability to compete benefits local businesses, employees, and communities throughout Sarpy County.
LB 1165 represents an opportunity to grow high-wage jobs, strengthen communities, and position Nebraska for future success. Business leaders, employers, and community members are encouraged to contact their state senators and share their support for LB 1165.
