• Local Organizations Partner to Help Families Stretch Their Grocery Budgets

Village Roots was grateful to partner with Union Bank & Trust, Yates Illuminates, MOMentum, Innocence Freed, and Sweet Circle to host a Stretching Your Grocery Budget workshop for local families and individuals.

The event welcomed participants from both Sarpy and Douglas Counties. Led by Molly Christenson from Union Bank & Trust, the class focused on simple, realistic ways to make grocery dollars go further through meal planning, smart shopping strategies, and reducing food waste.

After the workshop, participants were invited to shop Yates Illuminates' pantry before it opened to the public. Families were able to select fresh produce, dairy products, bread, and other food essentials based on their own household needs, as well as clothes from their clothing closet.

This kind of collaboration matters. Families often need more than one resource at a time, and partnerships like this help connect people to practical information and support all in one place.

Village Roots serves families in both Douglas and Sarpy Counties and is grateful for opportunities to work alongside partners who care about helping families build stability.
