MAPA Seeks Input on Regional Freight Issues through Online Opportunity
July 24, 2026The Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) has launched an online input opportunity for its Regional Freight Plan to gather input on challenges facing the region’s multimodal freight network, such as infrastructure condition, bottlenecks, safety, and the flow of freight. Participants will receive information about the plan development and have the opportunity to provide feedback through a survey and comment map.
Ultimately, the Regional Freight Plan will provide strategies to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability by minimizing impacts of goods moving (e.g. by trucks and trains) through our communities. The Plan will also identify opportunities to support the freight industry in Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska and the western-most portion of Pottawattamie County in Iowa. The Regional Freight Plan is developed through a data-driven process and will provide a roadmap for prioritizing infrastructure improvements.
The input received in this public meeting will be used to identify challenges that the Regional Freight Plan should address. Comments will be accepted on the project website at https://engage.mapacog.org/regional-freight-plan by August 10, 2026
